Da Villins – Da Fresh Price (prod. by Ill Tal)

Check out the new EP from Da VillinsThe Fresh Price of the Da Villins. For those that don’t know, Da Villins are part of Sean Price‘s (RIP) imprint #RUCKDOWN. The album features beats by veteran producer PF Cuttin, CrummieBeats, and Ill Tal!

I was lucky enough to produce the intro to the album. For those of you that are familiar with my regular boom bap sound, you might be a little thrown off by this one haha. Da Villins hit me up and asked if I can do a rework of the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme song.

At first I was confused, but when I heard the concept – of how they first met Sean Price – it made sense. I replayed the synths from the theme on an old EMU Planet Phatt to get that early 90’s sound and layered on top of the “Soundboy Burriel” drums to bring it back to Brooklyn.

Make sure to check out the rest of the EP along with their recent track “Llamas” produced by DJ Skizz.

BTW – Da Villins do have some tracks over my regular style beats and they will be dropping soon!
